10 Best Chattanooga Restaurants with Outdoor Seating

Posted by on Thursday, May 31st, 2018 at 2:54pm.

It’s finally summer in the Scenic City! And what better way to celebrate than to get outside and enjoy some of the fresh air at one of our local restaurant’s patio, rooftop or deck. We’ve gathered a list of the best outdoor seating in Chattanooga and broken it down by type of cuisine, so you’re all set no matter what you’re in the mood for!

Italian

Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria

212 High St, Chattanooga, TN 37403
423-265-5033

The most casual of Chattanooga’s Italian options, Tony’s Pasta Shop is a great stop for those with younger children. Ask specifically for the outdoor patio or rooftop seating, but do be aware that there tends to be a wait for either this time of year! Each table receives complimentary dipping oil and bread which is handmade at the Bluff View Bakery. The menu is delicious but affordable, with an expansive array of options from seafood to pasta to pizza. There is also a gluten free menu available upon request. We recommend the "Create Your Own Pasta" option to get exactly the dish you want.

Good To Know: Click here for a 10% off coupon for food purchases at Rembrandt's Coffee House, Back Inn Cafe or Tony's Pasta Shop & Trattoria.

Alleia

25 E Main St, Chattanooga, TN 37408
423-305-6990

Under the direction of James Beard award-winner for Best Chef, Daniel Lindley, Alleia is a foodie paradise. Just past the giant wooden doors, you’re greeted with the smell of wood-fired pizzas and the undeniably cool ambiance of this upscale Main Street restaurant. Head past the bar area and out the door and check out the awesome covered outdoor seating area that's heated for you to enjoy year-round. There isn’t a bad item on the menu at Alleia, but we recommend starting with the taleggio black truffle flatbread and one of the restaurant’s seasonal cocktails. For your meal, don’t miss the wood-fired pork shoulder or braised short ribs, which are to die for.

Good to know: Alleia hosts a monthly cena di famiglia, a family-style four-course dinner which always sells out within hours. Sign up for their newsletter to score one of the 80 or so tickets available each month to test out an incredible array of delicious food.

Mexican

Taco Mamacita

109 North Market Street, Chattanooga, TN 37405
423-648-6262

One of Chattanooga’s favorite Mexican food hubs is Taco Mamacita, a Mexican-Peruvian eatery featuring tacos, rotisserie chicken and cocktails with a cool ambiance. Although not necessarily the go-to for authenticity, this is a great place to bring the kiddos or to enjoy the nice weather on their spacious covered patio. If you’re super hungry, go for the Peruvian chicken dinner or for a lunch option try the tacos. You can’t go wrong with the California Club Taco with roasted chicken, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeno lime mayo and chipotle cream sauce  or the Caribbean Jerk taco with roasted Caribbean jerk chicken served with shredded cabbage, mango salsa, refried black beans, spicy Caribbean jerk sauce and peach aioli.

Good to Know: The folks who own Taco Mamacita also own Milk & Honey, a coffee shop just a few doors down, so you can snag a post-lunch latte!

Poblanos Mexican Grill

551 River St, Chattanooga, TN 37405
423-490-7911

Poblanos, located near Coolidge Park, is the perfect locale for a patio dining experience. They have a great outdoor seating area, and bonus - if you sit on the lower portion of the outdoor seating area, you can bring your dog! The menu at Poblanos definitely doesn’t disappoint. Try the Longhorn Quesadilla with your choice of meat, queso, black beans and corn, topped with sour cream and avocado slices. Also, you don’t want to miss the margaritas, which are hands down the best in town!

Good to Know: Download their app for the occasional coupon and frequent buyer card. It’s a little glitchy, but worth the effort to save a bit on your meal.

Bar/Pub Style

Clyde’s on Main

122 W Main Street, Chattanooga, TN 37408
423-362-8335

A quick Google search will tell you that Clyde’s is a “collegial honky-tonk with a retro vibe,” which is about the best way to describe this Southside haunt. They have an awesome covered patio area in the back that lets you enjoy the weather without fear of potential summer showers. Enjoy a bite to eat, a game of ping pong or shuffleboard, and of course the live music. Clyde’s On Main opens at 11 a.m. daily and closes at 11 p.m. Sunday -Wednesday (with the bar open until 12 a.m.) and 12 a.m. Thursday - Saturday (with the bar open until 1:30 a.m.).

Good to Know: Clyde’s is one of the few local restaurant/bars that has a listing of their upcoming music events online. Although the tickets aren't available until the day of, you can plan your visit in advance based on who you want to see.

Flying Squirrel

55 Johnson St, Chattanooga, TN 37408
423-602-5980

The Squirrel is easily one of the most hopping places in Chattanooga when it comes to night life, and they have a TON of outdoor seating. Grab a spot in front of the restaurant on the open patio for a view of the nearby dog park (and all the adorable dogs passing by on their way there), or on their spacious heated patio to the left of the building. Flying Squirrel offers live music many Saturday nights and usually on Sundays for their brunch. Come on Sundays for the first band at 11 a.m. and stay for the second at 1:30 p.m. Don’t forget an order of the garlic fries to share. You can thank us later.

Good to Know: Flying Squirrel is 21+ with ID every day except Sunday for their brunch

The FEED Co. Table and Tavern

201 W. Main St., Chattanooga, TN 37408
423-708-8500

The FEED Co. is another Southside restaurant that boasts the largest covered outdoor patio in Chattanooga! The restaurant, which offers 32 rotating craft beer selections as well as an arcade and live music, is divided with one half (only open until 10 p.m.) catering to those who want a more formal dining experience, and the other half creating more night life with a tavern that stays open late. To add to that night life is Live Music Fridays every Friday from 9-11 p.m.

Menu: www.feedtableandtavern.com
Good to Know: Check out Feed on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. for drafts from their featured brewery for only $3.50 per pint. Stick around afterwards for dinner and trivia from 8-10pm.

Terminal Brewhouse

No. 6 14th Street
423-752-8090

The Terminal Brewhouse’s tagline “Craft Beer. Crafty Food.” is about all the description this iconic local pub and grub stop needs. They have maybe one of the coolest outdoor seating areas, which is a rooftop garden patio area. Terminal's beers, including some of Chattanooga’s favorites like the Rock Out With Your Bock Out maibock and The White Shadow Belgian white, are served in several other locations across town. Beyond the options The Terminal has on tap, they also brew some amazing seasonal beers. As for food, try the West by God salad which includes grilled steak and french fries over house greens, candied pecans, tomatoes, onions, and bleu cheese crumbles, the Dirty Hippy hoagie stuffed with marinated portobello mushrooms, onions, green and red bell peppers, provolone, and sprouts served with cajun mayo, or one of their amazing pizzas served up on Niedlov’s pizza dough. Yum.

Menu: http://terminalbrewhouse.com/menu/
Good to Know: Out of all of the Scenic City’s breweries, this one boasts the fullest restaurant menu with some dishes so good it’s worth going even if you don’t want a beer (*gasp*).

Seafood

STIR

1444 Market St, Chattanooga, TN 37402
423-531-7847

A perfect date night location, STIR has a great industrial-chic atmosphere and a spacious patio area and outdoor bar seating. A big draw for STIR is the restaurant’s artisanal ice—yes, ice—that is hand cut in ways to complement individual cocktails. Sometimes you can watch them create a perfect sphere out of a block of ice, which helps make the cocktail prices seem reasonable for all of that hard work. Go and enjoy the experience at a discount for their Happy Hour Monday-Friday from 4-6:30 p.m. which features a select feature cocktail of the week for $7, $12 off wine by the glass, $5 well drinks and $4 draft beers. If you are looking for a snack, try the $1.50 fish tacos or sliders, or the guest favorite, $1 oysters.

We never miss a chance to brag on our favorite St. Elmo restaurant, 1885. This local eatery features Southern Coastal fare, plus really amazing patio seating where you can enjoy some live music on a Friday or Saturday night. They also usually feature live music during Sunday brunch, so make yourself a drink at the $3.50 bloody mary bar, and enjoy!
