The Chattanooga area isn’t short on spooky stops or family friendly fun this October. Don’t miss out on these five cool ways to get into the spirit on or before the big day! 

October 28-29

Acres of Darkness: Haunted Trail & Family Adventure

When: Family area 7:30-9:30 p.m.; Haunted trails 8-11 p.m.
Where: Audubon Acres, 900 N. Sancturary Road 
Cost: $10-15

Face the forest's natural dangers and more in Chattanooga's naturally terrifying haunted attraction. Featuring an all new cast of characters and surprises, the 2016 Haunt Trail is haunted by a host of terrors you won't see anywhere else. The Acres of Darkness is fun for the entire family with activities and entertainment for all ages. Play it safe on the kiddie trail or brave the Haunted Forest Trail. A family area includes a hayride, kid's activities, a black light maze and inflatables. All proceeds benefit the environmental conservation and education programs of the Chattanooga Audubon Society. Chattanooga Zoo’s Boo in the Zoo 

When: 5:30-8:30 p.m.

The annual Boo in the Zoo event is a family-oriented Halloween celebration with some of the Zoo’s most lovable animals. Children will enjoy having their picture taken with costumed characters, a scavenger hunt through the Zoo, animal enrichment activities, trick or treating, costume contest, games, haunted bounce house, ghost grab, Monster Smash, Mystery Maze, haunted hay rides, snacks and more. Lake Winnepesaukah’s WinnepeSPOOKah!

When: October 28-29 from 6-11 p.m. and October 30 from 5-10 p.m.

Cost: $24 online or $26 at the gate; Discounted pricing for Children 2 and under / Seniors 55 and older available at gate entrances.

Lake WinnepeSPOOKah offers hair-raising Halloween fun for boys and ghouls of all ages with more than 40 rides featuring kiddie rides, family rides and thrill rides. New in 2016, guests will be immersed in the dark surprises that await in the Feargrounds! Creepy delights and frightening fun include the Thriller Parade, terrifying treats, magic shows and dance teams. Ruby Falls’ Haunted Cavern

Nightmares return to Lookout Mountain for the 13th year as Ruby Falls hosts the Haunted Cavern, with a new terrifying theme: Flesh Farm. A world torn by infection and chaos, the Matron Mojo has formed her own brutal society that feeds on the madness. Scud Row outpost was formed from the ashes of what many called Ruby Falls and now thrives on the blood of the weak. Her Revenants now hunt the living—zombies to be farmed—to satisfy her sinister urges. The Ruby Falls caverns have now become a Flesh Farm ruled by Matron Mojo's Wretchers. This intense event takes place both above and below ground and is considered one of the area’s best haunted attractions. Rock City’s Blowing Springs Farm Featuring the Enchanted MAiZE

Celebrating 15 years of fall family fun, Rock City’s 10-acre Enchanted MAiZE, held in the valley below Lover’s Leap, will intrigue adventurers as they weave through the many twists and turns in an all-new design. Find fall fun with food, a historic birdhouse barn, tractor-pulled hayrides, Cow Train ride, pumpkin painting, corn hole, corn text game, Corn Crib Station, Pumpkin Market, Blowing Springs Playground, and the Critter Corral where you can pet a miniature Scottish Highland Cow, a miniature horse, alpaca, rabbits, potbellied pigs, sheep, ducks and more.
