Dog Friendly Places in Chattanooga

Chattanooga is amazing for so many reasons, but one of our personal favorites is the city’s friendliness to our four-legged friends. Oliver, our little 5-pound ball of fluff, is like family to us—which means we love to take him with us while we explore the city! If you’re looking for places that are dog friendly, we’ve got you covered.

Shopping

Nooga Paws
313 Manufacturers Rd., Suite 111

This is our favorite local stop for all of our dog’s needs from homemade treats and specialized food to bowties and new toys. The best part of this shop, beyond it being dog-friendly, is that it specializes in natural dog care. If you’re like us, you want the best for your pup, and we love that NoogaPaws offers all-natural choices so we know exactly what kind of chemicals we are (not) giving our pet. Plus, the shop also offers two self-service wash stations and for just a few dollars, you can wash your pet using professional tools without the pain of doing it at home. Double win.

Dog Parks

If you need a place for your pup to stretch his legs and play, Chattanooga has a lot to offer! Do be aware that many of these parks turn off the water in December for the winter months, so if you plan on visiting now, be sure to bring some with you!

Chattanooga Chew Chew Canine Park
1801 Carter St

Open daily from dawn to dusk, this dog park has lots of greenery, benches, fire hydrants, water fountains, waste removal, and agility equipment. The area is fully-fenced with separate sections for small and large dogs.

Greenway Farm
5051 Gann Store Rd

A large, fully-fenced area with separate sections for large and small dogs, doggie water fountains, benches and a few shade trees are some of the highlights of this dog park. Outside of the off-leash area, there area several trails and a rock quarry area with a swimming hole. Beyond the designated off-leash area, dogs are requited to be on a leash.

Restaurants

Although health codes don’t allow dogs inside dining areas, many Chattanooga restaurants offer patio seating that is fair game for you and your pup. Here are a few of our favorites!

1885 Grill
3914 St Elmo Ave

Featuring “southern coastal” dishes like wild caught salmon and crab cakes, 1885 Grill is hands-down one of our favorite places to eat in Chattanooga. And it doesn’t hurt that we can also bring our dog! Sit out on the patio and enjoy live music on most weekends along with the restaurant’s many awesome eats. We highly recommend you try the fried green tomatoes and, in our opinion, the city’s best mac and cheese.

Aretha Frankenstein’s
518 Tremont

This Chattanooga breakfast/lunch favorite has a claim to fame that goes beyond pancakes—the restaurant was once featured on Food Network’s  $40 A Day with Rachel Ray. The patio seating area is open to pups, but be prepared for a long wait during peak brunch hours. For breakfast, we recommend the pancakes (of course), or if you’re looking for a more savory lunch dish, try one of the burritos.

Hair of the Dog
334 Market St

A Scenic City take on a British pub, the Hair of the Dog is a fun hangout with traditional Brit-style bar foods and great beer selection. This is a 21 and up establishment and the restaurant does allow smoking, so be aware that this isn’t a place for the kiddos—but Fido is welcome to be leashed and sit with you in the patio area. Try the Rock Shrimp Hushpuppies to start or the Bangers & Mash for a full meal.
