3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival

When: 6-10 p.m. 
Where: Ross’s Landing, 100 Riverfront Parkway 
Cost: Free

The 3 Sisters Festival (the three daughters of Fletcher Bright) has experienced a tremendous response since its 2007 inception and has featured a full schedule of some of the biggest names in bluegrass including Yonder Mountain String Band, Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, Dan Tyminski and Del McCoury. Combining both traditional and contemporary bluegrass, this two-day event is becoming a nationally known bluegrass gathering. 2017's lineup will include Dismembered Tennesseans featuring founder Fletcher Bright, and many more top names in bluegrass. Food and beverages are for sale; no coolers are allowed at the festival. Bring your lawn chair, come early and stay late for the best in bluegrass. Saturday, October 7

Sculpture in the Sky

When: Noon to 6 p.m.
Where: Sculpture Fields at Montague Park, 1800 Polk St. 
Cost: Free

Get ready for some high-flying family fun Oct. 7, when the skies at the 33-acre Sculpture Fields will be filled with colossal and colorful kites, stunt kites and Rokaku battle kites. Visitors will experience parachute kite races, performances by Chattanooga Aerials, making their own kite, local food trucks and a beer tent.


Thursday, October 12

The Chattery Presents "The Art of Pumpkin Painting”

When: 6-7:30 p.m.
Where: Chattanooga Workspace, 302 W. 6th St.
Cost: $16

Carving pumpkins can be messy, time consuming and a lot of work. Painting pumpkins, on the other hand, is much easier and just as cute. Come learn the basics of Pumpkin Painting 101. We will provide the pumpkins, all the supplies, and the step-by-step instructions. This is a kid-friendly class for all ages. Thursdays in October

Fireside-Outdoor Concert Series

When: Thursday, October 12, 19 and 26 from 7-9 p.m.
Where: Greenway Farm, 5051 Gann Store Road, Hixson, TN 37343 
Cost: Free

Fireside is a free, family-friendly outdoor music series hosted by Outdoor Chattanooga which gathers around a campfire at the City of Chattanooga's Greenway Farm Park. All ages are invited to come out, unplug and enjoy an autumn evening in the park. Bring your blankets and chairs, marshmallow roasting stick and perhaps a picnic supper; then sit back and enjoy live music in a rustic outdoor setting. Rock City's Blowing Springs Farm featuring the Enchanted MAiZE

Adventure for the whole family begins by getting lost in the corn maze at Rock City's Blowing Springs Farm! Make sure to fuel up with homemade funnel cakes and more before swinging by the Critter Corral to meet the lovable furry animals. A family outing is not complete without a little competition, so drive around in pedal carts for a friendly family race. End the night with a relaxing hayride made for the entire family. Fall, fun, laughter and enchantment await at Blowing Springs Farm.
