Beginning Watercolor

When: 9 a.m. to noon 
Where: Townsend Altelier, The Arts Building, 301 E 11th St
Cost: $150 

This four week class is a perfect for those who are just starting out with watercolors or those who would like a refresher course. The instructor, During Cheek, will guide you through understanding the watercolor medium and materials. Learn the different techniques which make watercolor such a versatile medium. Along with instruction, there will be demonstrations and exercises working with color mixing and paint application. No previous painting or drawing experience required!


Second Mondays

Learn to Ride a Bicycle

When: 4 or 6 p.m.
Where: Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St.
Cost: Free

Learn how to ride a bicycle or refresh your rusty skills. Free classes are offered the 2nd Monday of each month and are recommended for adults and kids ages 6 and older. Reservations are required in advance by calling 423-643-6888 to learn more and make a reservation. Classes consist of a set of exercises and safety drills that are designed to help beginner riders of all ages progress at their own speed and ability.


Tuesday, January 9 

Chatt About Science: Local Work To Save Endangered Red Wolves

When: 7-8 p.m.
Where: Revelatory Coffee Company, 10 Frazier Avenue
Cost: Free

Red wolves once roamed the Eastern and Southcentral United States, but have now largely disappeared except for a small wild population in Eastern North Carolina. But captive breeding programs, including the one at Chattanooga's Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center, could help save these critically endangered animals. Join Chatt About Science on Jan. 9 to learn more about these amazing animals! Tish Gailmard, Reflection Riding's Director of Wildlife, will discuss red wolves, the local population at the nature center, and how their work fits into the red wolf species survival plan.
