Food Truck Fridays: Culture Fest

When: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 
Where: Miller Park, 900 Market St. 
Cost: Free

Come experience the rich cultural diversity of Chattanooga through arts, food, dance and live music during your lunch hour! With a newly opened park, there will also be a new slate of events and programs to be found in Downtown Chattanooga's Miller Park. In addition to the Rolling J's, Chatterbox, Clumpies and Go Gyro Go food trucks and cart that will be located on Market Street right beside Miller Park, each Friday will feature a different arts and cultural organization concluded by a local vendor fair to build community in the new public space.

Songs For A New World

When: Nov. 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 4 and 11 at 2:30 p.m.
Where: The Colonnade Center, 264 Catoosa Circle, Ringgold, GA 30736
Cost: $13-17 

The Colonnade Players present Songs For A New World. The Colonnade Players, by special arrangement with Music Theatre International, will bring "Songs for a New World" to The Colonnade Stage in November. Under the direction of James Ogden and musical direction of Terry Sanford, a cast of 4 men and 4 women will bring the beautifully crafted music and lyrics of Jason Robert Brown to life. This song cycle weaves together stories of everyday people in their search for a new world and a better life. The songs reveal hopeful expectations and harsh realities faced in the everyday struggle of discovery, becoming and belonging. The story travels through time and circumstance to portray the hopes, dreams, struggles, failures and triumphs that all light the way to a new world. Touch A Truck

When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Where: Warner Park, 1245 E. 3rd St. 
Cost: $5-20

Touch a Truck is a family friendly, hands-on event that offers opportunities for children to explore, climb and touch 20+ trucks of all kinds, including emergency response vehicles, heavy machinery and other equipment. Kids will also have the opportunity to meet the personnel who protect, serve and build our community. Silent hour will be from 9-10 a.m. for those who are more sensitive to noises. Kagura Dance Group from Tono, Japan

Kagura Dance Group from Chattanooga's sister city, Tono, Japan, will be presenting a performance as part of the arts programming for the current traveling exhibit, Hello from Japan. For more information, visit cdmfun.org.

The Chattery Presents "Homebrewing 101: Make Your Own Beer"

When: 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Where: Brew Market and Beer Garden, 1510 Riverside Drive
Cost: $35

This class is all about getting you started making your own flavorful craft beer at home. During the class you will help make a five gallon extract batch of Gingerbread Stout beer. You will steep some grains in water for flavor, add sweet malt extract, boil adding hops for a bitter counterpoint, cool it down, put it to bed and let the yeast do its work. While that’s happening you will learn beer history, brewing methods, ingredients, equipment needed, proper brewing and sanitation techniques, and the bottling process.
