Rock City's Enchanted Garden of Lights

When: 6-9 p.m.
Where: Rock City Gardens, 1400 Patten Road
Cost: $11.95-$28.95

For the holiday season, Rock City's Enchanted Garden of Lights is a family tradition. Featured recently on ABC's show The Chew, this light extravaganza showcases more than 30 holiday scenes and nearly a million LED lights that transform the gardens' natural daytime splendor into a fantasyland of four realms of wonder: Yule Town, Arctic Kingdom, Magic Forest and North Pole Village. Enjoy gingerbread cookie decorating, hot cocoa and nightly entertainment. Dinner with Santa is also back, as well as Jack Frost, Inara the Ice Queen and many other characters. A Christmas Carol: the Musical at Chattanooga State

When: December 7-9 and 14-16
Where: Chattanooga State Humanities Theater, 4501 Amnicola Highway 
Cost: $10-15

"A Christmas Carol: The Musical" takes Charles Dickens' classic tale and adds a fantastic score by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once On This Island). You'll see the "Bah! Humbug!" curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Follow the Cratchit family as they struggle to make ends meet. We all know how this holiday story ends: with a joyous "Happy Christmas" from Scrooge. Monday, December 10 

The Chattery Presents "DIY Cordials as Gifts”

When: 6-7:30 p.m. 
Where: Chattanooga Workspace, 302 W. 6th Street
Cost: $20

Have you always wanted to make your own cordials? In this class, you'll learn all about the science behind making liqueurs and you'll make your own to give as a gift! Guests will make a riff off of Kahlua, the perfect addition to any white Russian loving person's bar. All supplies included in the class, including a jar to take your creation home! Second Mondays (Monday, December 10) 

Learn to Ride a Bicycle

When: 4 or 6 p.m.
Where: Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St.
Cost: Free

Learn how to ride a bicycle or refresh your rusty skills. Free classes are offered the 2nd Monday of each month and are recommended for adults and kids ages 6 and older. Reservations are required in advance by calling 423-643-6888 to learn more and make a reservation. Classes consist of a set of exercises and safety drills that are designed to help beginner riders of all ages progress at their own speed and ability.


Thursday, December 13

Holiday Market in Miller Plaza

When: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Where: Waterhouse Pavilion, 850 Market Street
Cost: Free

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Come to the Waterhouse Pavilion in Miller Plaza for holiday music, shopping and treats. A variety of downtown retailers will be onsite with unique and local holiday gifts. You'll also be serenaded as you shop by some of our talented local school groups. Vendors include: Locals Only Chattanooga, Lost Art Stationary, Nooga Paws, alko-hauler, elea blake cosmetic studio, Good Fortune Soap & Spa, Wanderlust & Wolf, Center MedSpa, Handmade Here: Local Handmade Art, Gifts, & Decor, Chattanooga and Domingo Soap. Fresh wreaths will also be for sale from Creekside Flower Farm. Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts Jazz Ensemble will play and the Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences Middle School Choirs will preform. And last, The Daily Ration will be on hand to serve wine and beer along with Peet's Coffee - Chattanooga with hot beverages like cocoa and coffee.
