Friday, May 13 

Cambridge Square Night Market

When: 5-8 p.m.

Whether its a date night or an evening with the family, the Cambridge Square Night Market is the place to be Friday nights this summer. Enjoy live music in the square and plenty of places to grab a bite while you shop from a variety of local and regional artists offering handmade goods.


Friday, May 20

Comical Memoirist Harrison Scott Key

When: 6-8 p.m.
Where: Arts Building, 301 E. 11th Street
Cost: $5-25

Southern Lit Alliance will host comical memoirist Harrison Scott Key for a cocktail reception with Key for VIP ticket-holders at 5 p.m. and a reading at 6 p.m. A book signing will immediately follow. Key's humor and nonfiction have appeared in The Best American Travel Writing, Oxford American, Outside, The New York Times, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Salon, Reader's Digest, Image and Creative Nonfiction. Harrison has performed comedy at venues around the U.S. and his plays and monologues have been performed at theaters across the South and in New York. General Admission tickets begin at $15. A student ticket is available for $5 with a valid student ID. VIP tickets, which include the reception, reserved seating, and fast track super powers at the book signing cost $25. Community Education Forum 

When: 4-8 p.m.
Where: Bessie Smith Cultural Center, 200 E ML King Blvd. 
Cost: Free

Chattanooga 2.0 is hosting a community forum to discuss education in Hamilton County. This forum will explore the data presented in the 2.0 report and seek community feedback on early childhood education, K-12 schooling, and college and career readiness solutions. Attendees can visit stations on varying aspects of education and will be asked share their thoughts on the following questions: What positive, successful things are happening in education locally? What needs to improve on public education? What are bold solutions to address those challenges?The event is designed for community members to drop in at any time from 4-8 p.m. and participate in multiple information and feedback stations.


Thursday, May 19

History Happy Hour with Chattanooga Zoo

When: 6-8 p.m.
Where: Museum Center At 5ive Points, 200 Inman Street East,Cleveland, TN 3731
Cost: Free - $10

The Chattanooga Zoo, in partnership with Lee University is involved in important field research to survey wild populations of Hellbenders, the largest salamander species in the United States. The Zoo is also working to establish a successful breeding program for these rapidly disappearing animals. Hellbenders have never been successfully bred in captivity, and the Chattanooga Zoo has initiated a groundbreaking program to help save these amazing creatures. History Happy Hours invite visitors age 21 and up to experience a select local history topic while enjoying local refreshments. Look out for more this year in June, August, and October.
