Alice in Wonderland

When: 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. 
Where: Go Georgia Arts Studio, 7787 Nashville St., Ringgold, GA 30736 
Cost: $8

Sunday, September 6

Chattanooga Market Run of Honor 8K

When: 6:30 a.m. registration/race check-in and T-shirt pickup; 8 a.m. start time for 8k and 1 mile
Where: First Tennessee Pavilion, 1826 Reggie White Blvd.
Cost: Free - $25

Organized by the Fraternal Order of Police from Rock City and the Chattanooga Market, the Run of Honor 8K and 1 mile fun run will be held to support our local public servants. The race course will take participants through historic Main St. and around the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tim Chapin Scholarship Fund and the Fort Campbell Fisher House. For more information or to register, visit www.active.com.


Thursday, September 10

An Evening with Artist, Alan Shuptrine

When: 5-7 p.m. 
Where: The Walden Club, 633 Chestnut St.
Cost: Free, but be sure to reserve a seat

Local artist Alan Shuptrine will host a meet and greet art exhibit featuring his new project entitled, "The Serpentine Chain Collection." The intent of the artist is to “chronicle the people, traditions, and land along the Appalachian Trail, as well as the mysterious vein of serpentine mineral that runs beneath the earth.” Through his medium, he hopes to preserve mountain culture and encourage the preservation of the lands around it. During the meet and greet, Shuptrine will speak and share with visitors the history behind the exhibit. Walden Club members should contact the Club for reservations. Non-members should call 423-266-4453 to reserve a seat.


Thursday, September 10 through Saturday, September 12

Fall Native Plant Sale

When: Sept.10 from 2-7 p.m. and Sept. 11-12 from 9 am. to 4 p.m.
Where: Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center, 400 Garden Road
Cost: Free admission to the sale; Admission rates to the rest of the property are $10 per adult and $7 per child 

Landscaping with native plants is an excellent way of preserving the unique ecology of our region. With fall planting season on the horizon, Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center is opening its greenhouse for its annual native plant sale. The sale opens early on Thursday for members only, but anyone can become a member at or before the pre-sale to attend the event. All proceeds go to support Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center. For more information, visit www.reflectionriding.org or call 423-821-1600.


Friday, September 11

USA Dance 50's Night

When: 7:30-8:30—Beginning East Coast Swing Lesson with Tyler Kaiser, 8:30-10:30—General Dancing
Where: Brainerd United Methodist Church, 4315 Brainerd Road
Cost: $5 for student non-members and first-time guests, $3 for student members under 21, $6 for adult members and $10 for adult non-members 

Go back to the swinging 50’s, complete with poodle skirts and leather jackets, with USA Dance’s 50’s Night. The night will begin with a lesson on East Coast Swing from Tyler Kaiser followed by general dancing. No partner or dance experience required. For more information, visit chattanoogausadance.com.
