Fiddler on the Roof at the Theatre Centre

Gallery Hop

Where: AVA Gallery, 30 Frazier Avenue

The annual AVA Gallery Hop is a free event featuring 24 galleries, artist studios and pop-up exhibitions in and around Downtown Chattanooga. During Gallery Hop, the public can meet local artists, watch demonstrations and learn about the artists' creative processes at their studios. Galleries will have special exhibitions on display, and refreshments will be provided at most venues. The Hop is also an excellent opportunity to purchase art, whether you are just beginning your collection or you are a long-time patron of the arts. A map featuring the location of each gallery and studio will be available at all participating galleries. Open Screen Night

When: 7-10 p.m.
Where: CIne-rama, 100 W Main St
Cost: Free

ChattaMovies, a local moviemaker group and earLuminators, a local production group, will be co-hosting two Open Screen Night events at Cine-Rama. Open Screen Night is a screening of an hour and a half of independently-produced short works including those submitted by movie makers from Chattanooga and the surrounding region. Many genres are represented in the mix of entries, from music videos and comedies, to documentaries and dramas. The works voted as Audience Favorites will be screened at a "Best of Open Screen Night" event held at a major theatre in Chattanooga. The Chattery Presents: Listening Skills 101

When: 6-7:30 p.m.
Where: Edney Innovation Center, 1100 Market St.

With the constant ding of a phone, it's hard to pay attention to normal everyday conversations. This class will teach you how to ignore your phone and concentrate on your friends, family and co-workers. In this class, participants will define listening vs. hearing; explore different methods of communication (verbal, non-verbal, social media, etc.); roleplay the importance of eye contact, body posture and “parroting;” as well as "active listening" skills with partners in 5-minute conversation scenarios.
