The Torgerson Team gives back locally on Keller Williams' RED Day

This time last week, Keller Williams associates around the world put their real estate businesses on hold in order to “give where they live” on RED Day.

RED Day, which stands for Renew, Energize and Donate, is a global day of service, where entire market centers select a deserving charity or organization and dedicate the entire day to serving its recipients.

Keller Williams Downtown and Keller Williams East Brainerd offices gathered together this year to focus their energies on giving back at the Chambliss Center for Children, an organization that has been helping children locally for nearly 150 years.

The focus of their work has evolved over the years, and now the center's primary mission is child care—or extended early childhood education, as Chambliss calls it—offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. The center charges as little as $55 per week per child to provide child care for working low-income parents—about 80 percent of whom are single mothers. The most Chambliss charges on its income-based sliding scale is $160 per child per week.

Keller Williams agents spent last Thursday at Chambliss working on projects such as pressure washing the building, weeding flowerbeds, deep cleaning and organizing classrooms, and painting furniture.

“We’re really blessed to have had the opportunity to give back in such a meaningful way,” says Nathan Torgerson, team leader of The Torgerson Team. “I’m honored to be part of a company full of people willing to divert focus for a day and come together to work and better the community.”

Making a difference in the lives of others and improving the communities that they serve lies at the heart of the Keller Williams culture. This observance defines the company and is a natural extension of its commitment to the highest level of professional customer service.
