Fun Fact: Chattanooga has its own typeface, Chatype, which marked the first time that an American city had its own typeface.

Chattanooga, the fourth largest city in the state of Tennessee, has earned a reputation for being an incredible city in which to live, work and play. The New York Times named the Scenic City 1 of 45 cities worldwide to visit in 2012 (only 4 U.S. cities were chosen for the travel feature) and Outside magazine named the city  “Best Town ever” based on readers votes. It’s no small wonder that Chattanooga, tucked between the mountains of Southeast Tennessee along the beautiful Tennessee River,  has received recognition from all over the world for its scenic beauty and outdoor opportunities.

Attractions like the Tennessee Aquarium, the Chattanooga Market, Hunter Museum of American Art, the IMAX Theater, Bluff View Art District, Chattanooga Lookouts and the Creative Discovery Museum bring thousands of visitors a year to the city. The Scenic City also hosts many events which draw guests from all across the southeast and beyond. Some of these include Riverbend Festival, Wine Over Water, 4 Bridges Art Festival, Southern Brewer’s Festival, Nightfall Summer Concert Series and the 3 Sisters Bluegrass Festival.

The city is also home to several very large businesses including a major distribution center, CBL & Associates, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Chattem, Coker Tire, Double Cola, Litespeed Bicycles, Republic Parking System and Unum. One of the Scenic City’s most notable businesses, Volkswagen Group of America, completed a $1 billion production facility in the area that serves as its North American manufacturing headquarters. The company also just announced an additional investment of $600 million and 2,000 new jobs to produce their SUV line here in Chattanooga.

Housing options in the Scenic City are plentiful but are competitive with more and more people choosing to make this area home. Downtown Chattanooga, Southside and the North Shore areas offer walkable condo and apartment living along with single-family options, while other areas in the city such as Red Bank, St. Elmo and East Brainerd offer larger lots, historic homes and new construction neighborhoods to provide options for every family.
