REI Backpacking Cooking Workshop

When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Where: Enterprise South Nature Park, 8015 Volkswagen Drive

Creating a delicious and nutritious backpacking meal can be cinch when you have the knowledge and the right tools for the backcountry. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn about preparing food for backcountry travel, the different handling obstacles you may face in a remote setting, and tips and tricks on working with minimal kitchen supplies. It is time for the annual Back to School School Supply Drive sponsored by The Torgerson Team at Keller Williams Realty!

Through the month of July, The Torgerson Team will be collecting donations of school supplies for students and teachers. The needs of these teachers include items like: sticky notes, EXPO markers, dry erase board cleaner, Kleenex, highlighters, pens, Clorox/Lysol wipes, paper, hand sanitizer, binder clips, pencils, Sharpie pens, and paper clips. All of the school supplies donated will be distributed to local teachers and students in time for the new school year.

The idea of saving enough money to buy your own home can seem daunting. A downpayment for a home needs to be at least 3-5 percent of the purchase price, which even for a $100,000 home is $3,000 to $5,000 you’ll need up front. 

So, how do you save that kind of money? We have some money saving tips and tricks to help you be more frugal and save money fast.

1. Come up with a time frame

Decide when you want to buy a home. If your goal is to buy a home next year, that gives you 12 months to save up for your downpayment. If you want to put 5% down on a $150,000 home and start saving now, you know you need to put back $625 a month to make it happen!
