This European-style deli opened just last month in West Village in downtown Chattanooga offering sandwiches, salads and delicious breakfast options. After helping launch the Marketplace in the Westin hotel, Nashville native Anastasia Burton is now managing her namesake restaurant. Check it out for lunch and try a specialty sandwich like the Tennessee Smoked T.N.T. with cajun turkey, 3 pepper colby jack cheese, chipotle aioli, mixed greens, roma tomatoes and red onion on pumpernickel bread. Or start your day off with avocado toast and a cup of illy coffee. Yum!

Do you like Taco Mamacita, Urban Stack, Milk & Honey, Community Pie or Hi-Fi Clyde’s? From the owners and operators of all of these local favorites, Taylor and Michael Monen, comes a new restaurant option — Market South. Located in the former Enzo’s/Grocery Bar, this food hall features The Green Room, a craft coffee, cocktail and vinyl record shop; The Grand Trunk Railroad, an Indian street food vendor; Slow Rise, a Roman-style pizza shop;Chow Main, an Asian wok style restaurant and Five Wits Brewing Co., a brewery from Denver. There is also a test kitchen component of the food hall which will rotate several times a year. Right now you can try Lil Oso, a restaurant concept that we don’t know too much about yet since it’s so new … so someone go check it out and report back to us!
River Rock Project
A South Carolina developer is bringing a new mixed-used project to downtown Chattanooga. Featuring condos, apartments and retail stores, this 3.5-acre development will be on a former Unum surface parking lot just a few blocks from Walnut Street Bridge. According to an article from the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the developers hope to have the first apartments ready to rent by 2020 and the entire complex ready by 2021.
California Tortilla California Tortilla, also known as CalTort, is a chain of franchised fast casual Mexican-style restaurants with 39 locations in six states. And beginning next week, Hixson, Tennessee will be joining the ranks! Don’t miss the grand opening with $5 burritos and bowls on Tuesday, October 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Proceeds go towards Susan G. Komen® Central Tennessee.
Aloft Hotel According to a recent article in the Chattanooga Times Free Press, work has already started on the Aloft by Marriott hotel as part of the redevelopment of the former Sears in Hamilton Place Mall. This 135-room hotel will feature an “urban-inspired design with loft-like guest rooms, featuring airy 9-foot ceilings and keyless entry using your smartphone or Apple Watch.” Sounds nice, right? There’s no word yet on when this project will be done, but keep your eyes peeled!
