Have you been impatiently awaiting locally grown produce, handmade crafts and the epic deep-friend sugary goodness served by the bucketful at Monkey Town Donut Company’s food truck?

That last part may be just us, but in general, we’re really excited for the return of the Chattanooga Market opening Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30th for a full weekend start to kick off the season.

A local staple, the market blends a farmers and artists market with community ties. Every Sunday, Chattanooga Market features farms and food artisans selling produce, meats, cheeses, breads and specialty prepared foods, keeping the selection varied and fresh. There are also local and regional artists and crafters offering unique finds such as pottery, jewelry, photography, apparel, home and beauty products.

For this opening weekend, the market will include a special tribute to locally born, nationally loved MoonPie which is celebrating 100 years with an enormous birthday party. Visitors will enjoy games, samples and more from the MoonPie booth. There are more special events scheduled throughout the year including the annual Street Food Festival May 28, EPB Strawberry Festival June 4 and Oktoberfest Oct. 13–15. Check the website in advance to know when the market will have a special feature weekend or theme.

Be on the lookout for live music on the EPB stage featuring two free shows each Sunday. On opening weekend, the live music selections will include Sweet Georgia Sound from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Saturday and The Von Wamps from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and Brian Ashley Jones from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday.

Don’t forget to grab lunch from one of the themed food trucks or local eateries while you’re there!(Including the donuts. Save room for the donuts.)

Admission and parking are always free at the market. For more information, visit chattanoogamarket.com.
