Saturday, January 5

Artful Yoga at Southern Soul

When: 1:30-2:30 p.m. 
Where: Southern Soul Yoga, 313 Manufacturers Road, Suite. 203 
Cost: Free

Artful Yoga goes off site to Southern Soul Yoga while a new installation gets created in the Hunter Museum lobby. Partnering with Southern Soul instructors, the Hunter will use a work of art as an inspiration for a community yoga practice. Artful Yoga is an ongoing series connecting art from the Hunter Museum with yoga taught by local instructors.


Sunday, January 6

Grand Opening Open House - Unity Dance Studios

When: 3-7 p.m. 
Where: Unity Dance Studios, 6719 Mountain View Road, Ooltewah, TN 37363 
Cost: Free

Unity Dance Studios is coming to Ooltewah in January 2019. Teaching classes for ages three to adult, Unity is excited to offer professional, classical training to the Ooltewah community! This studio will serve as a satellite of Unity's Cleveland campus, which serves over 300 students each week. Unity offers classes in classical ballet and a variety of other styles including modern, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, acro dance, conditioning, and more. The grand opening will kick off with an open house on January 6 from 3 to 7 p.m., and classes will begin on January 7th. Guests can come tour the studio, watch the professional touring company take a class, and register for spring classes.

The Chattery Presents "The Perfect 2019 Planner”

Unlock your planner potential! By now you have probably heard about the Bullet Journal craze that has taken over Pinterest and Instagram since its inception back in 2014. Based on personal experience with creative journaling over the past three years, teacher Martha Arrington share pages from her own journals, discuss pros and cons, tips and tricks, and materials and supplies. In this class, you'll learn how to set up the six most important pages in your journal so you can walk out of class ready to begin a more productive and organized life. All supplies included. Each participant will receive a 30 page journal and Sakura Pigma Micron pen.

WTCI Presents Free Preview Screening of RUMBLE

When: 6-7:30 p.m.

Guests at the January screening event will enjoy Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World. Hosted at the Palace Theater, Rumble brings to light a profound and missing chapter in the history of American music: the Indigenous influence. Featuring music icons Charley Patton, Mildred Bailey, Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Jesse Ed Davis, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson, Randy Castillo, and Taboo, Rumble shows how these pioneering Native musicians helped shape the soundtracks of our lives. Leave No Trace Workshop

When: 6:30-8 p.m. 
Where: Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St.
Cost: Free

This Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop will cover the seven principles with an emphasis on preparation, planning, skills and techniques that are essential to Leave No Trace. LNT Educator, Riley Kurtts will also discuss what to do when nature calls in nature and how to properly poop in the woods. This workshop is geared towards anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors including scout leaders, camp staff, trip leaders, outdoor professionals, college students, and teachers.
