Friday, February 3

An Evening in New York

When: 7-10 p.m.
Where: Bessie Smith Cultural Center, 200 E ML King Blvd.
Cost: $50

The Chattanooga Boys Choir's annual fundraising dinner is celebrating the choir's upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Proceeds from this event will support the tour as well as scholarships. Attendees will enjoy a dinner cooked by Food Network star, local chef and CBC dad Charlie Loomis, signature drinks with a nod to New York, entertainment by jazz pianist David Walters and his band as well as CBC's own Cantabile, a photobooth to make you feel like you are in the Big Apple, more than 30 pieces of art submitted by local Chattanooga artists, and a live auction. Wednesday, February 8

Try Archery

When: 3:30-5 p.m.
Where: Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River Street
Cost: Free

Take aim at Outdoor Chattanooga's "Try Archery" class. This free indoor class offers a hands on opportunity to learn more about the sport of archery. Concentrating on range safety rules and fundamentals of archery, the class is taught using the National Archery in Schools NASP equipment and procedures. The session is walk-in and open to ages 6 and up. No reservation or prior experience required. All equipment provided. For more information call Outdoor Chattanooga at 423-643-6888.


Thursday, February 9

Fall in Love with Swing

When: 5:30-7 p.m.
Where: Bethlehem Center, 200 West 38th St
Cost: $10 for individuals; $20 for couples

Dust off your dancing shoes and get ready for an evening of swing dancing including step-by-step instructions from a local swing dance enthusiast. Childcare will be provided at $5 for one child and $1 for each additional child. Proceeds from the event will benefit various youth programs at Bethlehem Center. Cocktails in Color: Love American Style

When: 6-9 p.m.
Where: Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View
Cost: $15-20

At this event, Hunter curators and Flying Squirrel bartenders will take you on a love-filled tour of art before you enjoy an aphrodisiac cocktail inspired by the art. Event ticket includes one specialty cocktail (full cash bar available with additional drinks). Then join the after-party at the Squirrel. Chatt About Science: Lessons from Insects and Stomachs For Designing Healthy Environments

When: 7-8 p.m.
Where: Revelatory Coffee Company, 10 Frazier Ave
Cost: Free

Cities are becoming a fixed feature of our landscape and humans are not the only residents. Dr. DeAnna Beasley, an Assistant Professor of Biology at UTC, will discuss how insects and microbes provide insight into how urban life may be shaping human health.
