Work for Yourself@50+

LAUNCH CHA is offering Work for Yourself@50+ workshops in our community helping low- and moderate-income adults age 50+ gain the knowledge, support, and resources they need to make informed decisions and take the right first steps toward successful self-employment. The 90-minute workshop will walk participants through the Work for Yourself@50+ materials and connect them with local resources to help them reach their goals. The decision to start a business can be both exciting and daunting. Work for Yourself@50+ breaks the choices down for older adults in an approachable way. Vegetable Gardening for Beginners

Cost: Free

You've been to the market. Now grow your own! While starting a vegetable patch may seem daunting, it is actually quite easy, and at this event, instructors are going to give you simple guidelines to help you become a successful vegetable gardener. This seminar is free but space is limited so call to reserve your spot at 423-883-3174.

Artful Meditation: A Personal Mexican Response to Vision and Identity

When: 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Where: Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View
Cost: Free

Enjoy a Sunday afternoon exploration of work in Under the Mexican Sky: A Revolution in Modern Photography followed by a guided meditation led by Adriana Rios, yoga instructor, meditation practitioner, and native of Puebla, Mexico. This program is free and open to all guests. And guests are encouraged to bring a mat or blanket to sit on.

Divas & Desserts: Broadway Babies

When: 7:30-10 p.m. 
Where: Barking Legs Theater, 1307 Dodds Avenue
Cost: $25

Divas and Desserts is a 90-minute event featuring homemade desserts, wine, and an evening of performances from some of the leading female impersonators in our area. Each of these events will be built around a theme, and many of the entertainers are regulars on the ETC stage. While alcohol will be present, the performances will be family friendly. The entertainers will be preparing and performing numbers that you may recognize from New York, the big screen, or television. Winter Workshop: How to Plan & Lead a Day Hike

Where: Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St.

Outdoor Chattanooga's Winter Workshop Series is a series of classroom-based, outdoor education and skill building workshops that are free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, no reservations or experience required to attend. This workshop, How to Plan and Lead a Day Hike, will teach the elements of preparing for and leading a day hike as a way to make your trip safer and more enjoyable for all involved. From an essential gear packing list to information about area trails along with trail maps and suggestions for beginner and seasoned hikers, you'll walk away with the knowledge and confidence to venture out and lead a group day hike.
