Friday, August 5

Shark Fest!

When: 6-8:30 p.m.
Where: Tennessee Aquarium, 1 Broad Street 
Cost: Free - $14.50

If you like Shark Week, you’ll love Tennessee Aquarium’s Sharkfest. Enter a diver’s shark cage, get a shark tattoo and a shark hairdo. Enjoy Dr. Bernie's Travelin' Shark Show with bizarre museum specimens and check out the displays of prehistoric shark teeth. The event will also include shark facts during dive shows, a special feeding. and a special treat from Cold Stone Creamery at the end of the adventure.

Saturday, August 6

Foodorama Chattanooga

When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
Where: Coolidge Park, 200 River Street
Cost: $5-10

Foodorama Chattanooga, the city's first and only food truck festival, will feature 16 of the Southeast's top-rated food trucks, a live music stage, a Makers' Market featuring the works of more than 20 local artists, a kids' zone and local non-food businesses. Food trucks that will be featured at the event include: Angelfire 7 BBQ, Bitler Bistro, Cape Pies, Catty Wampus, Deep South Biscuit, Filipino, Holy Crepes, Mac the Cheese, Mix'd Up Burgers, Muenster Cheese, Roti Rolls, Tasting Maine, Tex's Tacos, The Pup Truck, Tracy's Tasties and Viet Nomie’s. A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Second Helpings Chattanooga as part of Chattanooga's Grub Gives Back program. Second Helpings is a non-profit organization that picks up donated leftover food from area restaurants and hospitals and delivers them to local on-site agencies such as Ronald McDonald House, Room in the Inn and Orange Grove Homes.


Tuesday, August 9

The Chattery Presents "Introduction to Calligraphy”

When: 6-7:30 p.m.
Where: Chattanooga Workspace, 302 W. 6th St.
Cost: $22

Ever wanted to learn the basics of calligraphy? From these basics in class, students can pursue developing the skills of a traditional style of calligraphy or can adapt them into a more contemporary style. Good penmanship is not required—only a desire to enjoy oneself and to learn some of the basics of the art of calligraphy. Supplies, such as paper for practice and calligraphy pens for you to take home, are provided. Students will need to bring a small quotation or an inspirational phrase to use for the project. August 11-13

Fall 2016 Chattanooga Boutique Warehouse Sale

When:  Thursday, Aug. 11 from 4-8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, Aug.12-13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Stratton Hall, 3146 Broad Street
Price: Free - $15

Friday, August 12

Movies in the Park at Dark

When: 7:30-10 p.m.
Where: Heritage Park, 1428 Jenkins Road
Cost: Free

Bridge Christian Church will host its fifth annual family movie series, Movies in the Park at Dark, beginning with "Inside Out," on Friday, Aug.12. The family-friendly movies will be shown on a large inflatable screen at Heritage Park and will begin at dark. The events are free, open to the public and popcorn and drinks will be available for $1 each. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the shows. Movies will be cancelled for inclement weather.
