August 2-3

St. Jude Rodeo

When: 6-10 p.m.
Where: Doug Yates Farm, 111738 Alabama Hwy
Cost: $10-20; free for children 5 and under

The 22nd Annual St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Rodeo is a PCA sanctioned rodeo held at Doug Yates Farm. Gates will open at 6 p.m. each night and the rodeo will begin at 8 p.m. Cash only at the gate. For more information visit pcarodeo.com.


Sunday, August 4

Chattanooga Dance Theatre Open House

When: 2-5 p.m. 
Where: Chattanooga Dance Theatre, 5151 Austin Rd., Suite A 
Cost: Free

Enjoy refreshments, children's crafts, performances by Chattanooga Dance Theatre's intermediate and advanced dancers, The Batterie Dance Store, and a chance to talk with CDT's faculty, staff and other families. Plus, register and pay for August classes on or before the open house and your $17 registration fee will be waived. Tuesday, August 6

Introduction to Sushi Making

It's fun and easy to make rolled sushi at home! From sushi rice to a variety of ingredients, this easy to make meal is also healthy and delicious! Come and learn how to spread, layer, tuck and roll your way to sushi heaven. In this hands-on cooking class, you'll learn all the skills needed to make sushi-rolls, including how to prepare sushi rice. You'll learn to make three types of vegetarian rolled sushi: Hoso-maki (thin rolled 1 ingredient inside), Futo-maki (thick rolled 3-4 ingredients inside), and Ura-maki (inside out, rice on outside). International Scale Model Show

Where: Chattanooga Convention Center, 1150 Carter St.
Cost: $12

The International Plastic Modelers Society's Annual Convention is coming to the Chattanooga Convention Center. Scale modelers from around the world will be in attendance. There will be thousands of highly detailed scale models of airplanes, tanks, ships, cars, rockets and figures on display built by the best modelers in the world. Chattabrew Tour

Cost: $40

ChattaBrew Tour gives guests a behind-the-scenes brewery experience that isn't available to the general public. On each tour, you'll visit four different breweries over four hours, tasting their signature brews and seasonal selections while you learn the art and science of their craft. You'll also have time to grab a pint at each stop and even purchase cans and growlers to enjoy later. Ticket cost includes transportation on the climate-controlled ChattaBrew Tour beer bus, beer tastings at every stop, bottled water, and a Brewing 101 lesson from a knowledgeable tour guide.
