Friday, August 24

Jam and Bread 

When: 6-8 p.m.
Where: Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut Street
Cost: $3-5

Looking for a lively night of kid-friendly music and fun? Look no further. It's time for Jam and Bread featuring The Party Truck! Jam and Bread is a spirited music concert series for families and children that features live entertainment, pizza, and the chance to play in the Creative Discovery Museum after-hours. Dinner and dancing and music will be everywhere as local band The Party Truck, takes the stage to perform traditional and original songs for children. Music begins at 6:45 and will last approximately 40 minutes. Admission is $3 for members, $5 for non-members. Reservations are encouraged. Rail and Hops Brewers Festival

When: 6-11 p.m.
Where: Chattanooga Choo Choo, 1400 Market Street
Cost: $45-90

The inaugural Rail & Hops Brewers Festival will focus on the artistry of brewing hand-crafted beers from brewers that are local, regional and beyond, as well as a culinary experience showcasing chefs and restaurants. Enjoy live music entertainment and more at this 21+ event. Photo ID is required to enter, including designated drivers.

Family Funday: Climbing the Walnut Wall

When: 4-7 p.m. 
Where: Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River St.
Cost: Free 

Outdoor Chattanooga's experienced rock climbing staff will open the Walnut Wall for a Family Funday in the park and give anyone interested the opportunity to try vertical rock climbing. This is top roped climbing with route difficulty varying from beginner to advanced. No experience is necessary and the equipment is provided. Gym shoes and longer shorts or athletic pants are most appropriate. The City of Chattanooga's Walnut Wall overlooks the Tennessee River from a 50' high limestone pier of the historic Walnut Street Bridge in Coolidge Park. Located on the north shore of the river, the wall hosts special climbing programs and activities through Outdoor Chattanooga, and is the practice home for the Chattanooga Area Interscholastic Climbing League. For more information contact Outdoor Chattanooga at info@OutdoorChattanooga.com or 423-643-6888.

The Chattery Presents "Open Mic Storytelling Night: Firsts"

Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World formed in Mesa, Arizona, USA in 1993. They are associated with an array of genres including alternative rock, indie rock and pop punk. Singer/guitarist Jim Adkins and drummer Zach Lind, who had been friends since kindergarten, joined forces with co-vocalist/guitarist Tom Linton and bass player Mitch Porter to try their hand at music. In its early years the band emulated the style of their punk rock influences, and they eventually recorded and released three singles and a full-length, self-titled album on local label Wooden Blue Records.
