2017 Tennessee Tiny House Festival

When: Friday, Sept. 8 from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9-10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Where: Audubon Acres, 900 N. Sancturary Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421 
Cost: Free - $35

The 2017 Tennessee Tiny House Festival is coming to Audubon Acres! As with its previous record-breaking, for-charity Tiny House Festivals, the United Tiny House Association will be bringing dozens of tiny houses and micro homes, national and world recognized leaders from the tiny house community, Friday night concerts and fire performers, day-time live entertainment, dozens of workshops and presentations, and of course the fundraising for various charities and great causes the Tiny House Festivals have become known for. The Friday evening event is free, while tickets will be sold for the other days. Saturday, September 9 

Railfest

When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum, 4119 Cromwell Road 
Cost: $10 - $25

Visit the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum and see the railroad history which has been preserved over the last 50+ years! Trains will be running throughout each day including multiple Missionary Ridge Local trips, and there will also be special exhibits and displays. Enjoy equipment not normally open for inspection, operating model railroads, entertainment, live music, moon walk, coloring pages, play tables, mini golf, petting zoo, pony rides (slight additional charge), blacksmith demonstrations, and more. Art + Issues: Andrew Jackson's legacy in Chattanooga

When: 6-7 p.m.
Where: Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View
Cost: Free

This evening's art + issues, held as part of state wide commemoration of Andrew Jackson's 250th birthday, will explore Jackson's legacy here in Chattanooga in the context of the Trail of Tears. This hour long community dialogue will be led by Hermitage Education Director Erin Adams and will focus on a Hunter collection piece. Free and open to the public.

Eat Green for Tennessee 

When: All Day 
Where: Downtown Chattanooga 
Cost: Varies

Eat Green for Tennessee is returning for its fifth year, bringing together dozens of restaurants from Nashville, Franklin, Chattanooga and Sewanee, all of which have pledged to donate a percentage of the day's sales to support The Land Trust for Tennessee and its statewide conservation efforts. During the fundraiser's five-year history customers and restaurant partners have raised approximately $90,000 for The Land Trust, which works year-round to conserve Tennessee's green spaces, including its bountiful farmland. Diners can take part in this year's Eat Green for Tennessee initiative by enjoying breakfast, lunch, dinner and even gift cards at a participating restaurant with no additional fees. A sample of participating restaurants in Chattanooga include Lupis, Southern Squeeze, Good Dog, Frothy Monkey, Slicks and Alleia. September City Sweat: Get Bendy with Dendy

Where: Waterhouse Pavilion, 850 Market St.

Join guests at the Waterhouse Pavilion for the final City Sweat of the year celebrating the second annual Southern Bend Yoga Festival with its creators, Heather Shaw Dendy and Kari Baker Pollard. Have your mats and hydration ready to go through flows to challenge the body and meditative salutations to release stress.
