The Torgerson Team's second annual Back to School School Supply Drive was a huge success! Thanks to you and your donations, we were able to love on 10 of our local teachers with gift baskets overflowing with goodies.
Our journey to deliver these gift baskets took us to on a tour of area schools including ones in Chattanooga, Ringgold, Rossville, Hixson, Signal Mountain, Soddy-Daisy and Rock Spring. Along the way we heard so many stories of how your donations would make a difference!
Many of our local teachers have to buy hundreds of dollars worth of school supplies out of their own pocket to either outfit their classroom or help a child who comes to school without. One teacher said she's even gone to buy things like backpacks for students whose families couldn't afford to send them to school with one. Another began pointing to items in her classroom that she'd bought out of pocket in the past - storage containers, an easel, a rug. All this on top of basic supplies she needed to run her classroom effectively. Each year your donations provide some relief for situations like this and more.
These teachers deserve all of our efforts and yours, and we are so grateful to have helped gather and focus your generosity.
