In this walk-through, I will share major features to help develop the settings and then some of what we love about our home. The original custom structure was built in 1999 and was mostly destroyed by the 2011 near cat-5 tornado. While traumatic, the event did allow us to rebuild in 2012 a more special custom home that fits a lifestyle for living and entertaining. This custom-built home sits on 2.3 acres high on a ridge facing West and features a warm Mountain Accent theme with 22-foot high great room ceilings. These ceilings are built with exposed Southern Yellow Pine beams and 2x6 tongue and groove Cyprus planks. The exposed beams and tongue-in-groove ceilings continue into the foyer, outside covered porches, and the great room eves. The main and top floors of the home are covered on the outside with maintenance-free premium vinyl cedar siding. Freshly stained exterior wooden decks cover most of the front and all the rear of the home. Inside, the main flooring is solid Oak except for the custom tile in the foyer, kitchen, and master bath. The two top-floor bedrooms have engineered Oak flooring except for the Jack-n-Jill bathroom tile. Custom wood with bronze metal cladding windows and double sliding doors cover the front of the home, which maximizes the sunsets and valley views below.
In creating this home, we wanted to develop spaces designed to be special experiences when utilizing the area, so every space is an actual getaway for that part of the home. Here are some of the things we love about the home. The color pallet throughout is designer chosen to create a warm living experience from the moment one sees the property. Just as one would expect from the exterior theme, the lodge feel continues into the foyer and great room with a fireplace surrounded by custom stonework, furnishings, and magnificent views. Carefully selected lighting placements and finishes allow for the perfect setting. While the mountain lodge accents set the tone and feel, care was chosen to blend modern finishes for an atmosphere more towards the elegant spectrum of rustic. From the warm great room, the open floor plan extends into the kitchen dining area, which was designed for function and comfort. The crown molded ten-foot-high walls allow for taller Birch cabinets for increased storage. Quartz countertops make preparing and cleanup a breeze. With the double-sided gas fireplace, the ambiance invites formal entertaining and cozy dinners. The quartz-topped island has seating for four and is a great place to hang out and have lunch or small meals. Tall French doors open to the covered portion of the rear deck for those outside breakfasts and cookouts. Multiple lighting options allow one to set the mood of choice. The master bedroom is spacious with a vaulted ceiling and a beautiful spiral wooden staircase to a loft area that's wonderful for reading or writing by the loft window. Two walk-in His & Her closets with chandeliers, built-in shelving, and drawer units that set across from one another leading into the spa-themed bath. Double vanities, jetted tub, custom tiled walk-in rain shower, large chandelier, and picture-window views provide for pampered daily spa treatments. An entrance into the sunroom also set off the master bedroom. It's currently themed as the quintessential man-cave and excellent for relaxing, reading, listening to music, or a friendly card game with friends. The sunroom has a separate entrance to the rear deck and is a great place to enjoy a fine cigar, wildlife viewing, and landscape views.
Stairs from the Great Room ascend to two additional bedrooms upstairs with huge walk-in closets and a Jack-n-Jill bathroom. This second floor has its own heating and cooling heat pump that's ideal for zoned climate control and energy savings.
Stairs from the Great Room descend into the finished basement to the lower foyer. To the left are the Theater and game room. Watch movies and sports on the 5x8 ft built-in projector screen with premium surround sound. Play darts or shoot pool on the included pool table and dartboard. To the right of the lower foyer from the steps, is a large exercise room with views. Exit to the exterior driveway or into the two-bay garage. This isn't just any garage! It has its own separate motorcycle garage and hobby shop. Lots of storage space for tool cabinets and built-in drawers that create a great place to do your own auto maintenance. There is even a built-in TV for watching car shows and how-to videos. The hobby workshop has plenty of room and counter space for hunting, fishing, golfing, and modeling of all sorts. A third garage is on the opposite side of the home under the sunroom for all those other things. Currently, I store my jet ski, lawnmowers, and other property maintenance equipment there.
We believe we have succeeded in developing a home with spaces designed to be special experiences, and all the above are so important in expressing what we love about this home. But here are some other really great things to love that is not listed above. When rebuilding, we made sure to reduce the cost of ownership by opting for premium insulation packages and taking steps to reduce energy waste. All hot water plumbing is also insulated. The main floor is further insulated from the finished basement by R-19 for energy and sound. Led lighting has been used whenever possible. Recently installed is a heat pump with gas emergency backup heating. Electric power charges are less than half of the original home's electric bills. A fire-break drive surrounds the home, and the lower part of the lot has its own concrete driveway to an area that has been leveled and graveled for storage of RVs, trailers, and/or an additional future building. All the storm-damaged trees were removed or mulched and over 200 new trees were planted, among which are four mature Japanese Maples, four Arizona Blue spruces, River Birches, Red Bud, Red Cedar, Cherry, Peach, Dogwood, Oak, Hickory, and Poplar to name a few. More than fifty thousand dollars has been invested into the landscaping, access, and usefulness of the property. Finally, this convenient location is peaceful and quiet with good neighbors.
Serenity best describes this property and home. Come see for yourself.
