Friday, August 4

Nickajack Bat Cave Canoe Adventure

When: 7:30-10 p.m.
Where: Outdoor Chattanooga, 200 River Street
Cost: $40 per canoe ($20 pp) and $10 for children under 13 years of age

Outdoor Chattanooga hosts a guided and equipped canoe trip to Nickajack Cave, where thousands of endangered gray bats come each summer to raise their young. We will begin with essential canoeing instruction for the novice paddler and set out for a short paddle to the mouth of the cave at dusk and watch the bats fly to start their nightly feeding. Boats anchor just off the cave entrance to view the emerging bats. A short return paddle in the twilight tops off the experience. No public admittance within the cave is allowed. This special trip is appropriate for the entire family, adults and kids ages 5 and older. Reservations are required by calling Outdoor Chattanooga at 423-643-6888.


Saturday, August 5

7th Annual Classic Car Show

When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
Where: Camp Jordan, 323 Camp Jordan Parkway, East Ridge, TN 37412 
Cost: Free

The 7th Annual Classic Car Show sponsored by River City Corvette Club, City of East Ridge, and O'Reilly Auto Parts is coming to Chattanooga! The event is free to the public, but there is a $20 entry fee to participate in the show to be judged. There will be 82 awards including Top 50, 1st and 2nd place in 11 classes including Rat Rods, Motorcycles, and Imports. There will be 5 Best of Show along with Best Wheels, Best Interior, Best Exterior, Best Engine, Best Club Participation. In addition to the contest, there will be door prizes, auction items and vendors. All proceeds to benefit the East Ridge Needy Child Fund and Hospice of Chattanooga.


Tuesdays and Thursdays in August

The Studio: Beat Making And Digital Music For Adults

When: 6-7 p.m.
Where: Chattanooga Public Library, 1001 Broad St.
Cost: Free

The Chattanooga Public Library just built and opened The Studio, a professional recording studio in our downtown branch! Now they are teaming up in The Studio with the pros over at Dynamo Studios to bring you their exclusive course, Audio Engineering & Production: Beat Making and Digital Music, for adults. Space is limited. Classes are for adult students only. Register for each session separately via the library website calendar listings: http://chattlibrary.org/events. A Chattanooga Public Library Card is required to take this workshop. 


Thursday, August 10

City Sweat: Onsight Realness

When: 6-7 p.m.
Where: Waterhouse Pavilion, 850 Market St.
Cost: Free

Ready for an elevated workout experience? Visit Waterhouse Pavilion as Onsight Fitness co-owners Matthew Averyhart, Christine Hagemeyer and Josh Johann take guests through a challenging and fun workout that will give you a glimpse of what personal training looks like. 


Friday, August 11

Movies in the Park at Dark

When: 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Where: Heritage Park, 1428 Jenkins Road
Cost: Free

Bridge Christian Church will host its sixth annual family movie series, Movies in the Park at Dark, at Heritage Park. The first movie in the series chronicles the lives of animals and a mystery they try to solve in the city of Zootopia. The second event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 30. The blockbuster is about a former scientist who is taken away from his family and then becomes the Empire's lead engineer for the most powerful weapon in the galaxy, the Death Star. Both movies begin at 7:30 p.m. and are shown on a large inflatable screen at Heritage Park. The events are free and open to the public. Popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the shows. Movies will be cancelled for inclement weather.
